Batman 1989....was it what you come to expect from Tim Burton?

(2)
Batman was everything you come to expect from director Tim Burton.  There are 3 writers who are given credit for creating this film and I think we can all agree without the work of Bob Krane (the creator of Batman) none of this would ever have be able to come to the big screen.  The other two writers who helped get this movie together were Sam Hamm who did the story and the screenplay and then there was Warren Skaaren who helped with the screenplay.  The story follows the origins of Joker and Batman as they meet and battle.
Gotham City is a very dark and dangerous place and the police department doesn't do much because they are mostly corrupt.  No matter how much D.A. Harvey Dent (Billy Dee Willams) and police commissioner Jim Gordon (Pat Hingle) try the city is just becoming more unsafe.  The street thugs of Gotham seem to be superstitious and a bunch of cowards because they are afraid to be on the roof because of a "bat" that may get them.  Then we get to Vicky Vale (Kim Basinger), she is a prize-winning photo journalist who has a desire to uncover the secrets of the so called "bat-man" with the help of Alexander Knox (Robert Wuhl).  Finally we get to Jack Napier (Jack Nicolson) who was an enforcer for Carl Grissom (Jack Palance), he gets transformed after a firefight in a chemical factory.  Due to the chemical accident it alters his sanity and he then seizes control of Gothams underworld as the unpredictable, always laughing, psychotic Clown the Joker.  At this point it seems like the city must now rely on the one vigilante they were trying to catch.
I felt that the set design was very well put together and apparently the Academy Awards felt the same way because Anton Furst and Peter Young got an Oscar for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration.  I don't think it can get any better than that now can it?
Now the background music was pretty good.  Granted there were a few parts where I felt that the background music was a bit ridiculous and a bit over the top, but considering that it was paired with the Joker it really does make sense.
Overall I would give this movie a B-.  Tim Burton was probably the perfect choice to direct this movie because his dark perspective of things makes you understand how horrible things truly are in Gotham.  It also really just makes the film more believable.  I enjoyed it and if you haven't seen this version of Batman yet I would suggest you check it out.
Comment below and let me know what you think of the movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man Amazing?

The Amazing Spider Man
The Amazing Spider-Man was every bit amazing.  Although I think it came too soon after Spider-Man 3 and the hunger to see it just wasn't there.  Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man/Peter Parker) and Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) worked very well together.  The screenplay for this 2012 adaptation of Spider-Man to the big screen was done by 3 writers, James Vanderbilt, Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves, while the story was written by James Vanderbilt.  The story follows Peter Parker from when he was a little kid playing with his parents to when he was Spider-Man fighting criminals.
Peter Parker (Garfield) was abandoned by his parents when he was just a little boy, they left him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field).  Peter is lost and is trying to find his way and how he turned out the way he is today.  In the meanwhile  he is also trying to find his way with his first school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together they flirt with secrets while they struggle with their commitment and love.  After an encounter at school Peter goes home to help Uncle Ben with a flood in the basement where he discovers a briefcase that belonged to his father.  Finding a mysterious compartment in the briefcase makes Peter begin to question his parent's disappearance and makes him want to know what really happened to them.  This takes him to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), who was his father's former partner.  This sets up Spider-Man on a collision course with Connor's alter-ego, The Lizard,  Peter will have to make life-altering choices on how to use his powers which will shape his future to become a hero.
The background music in this film was sound on.  Every scene that was intense was met with music that was intense all while not being overpowered by the music.  I never felt like the music was misplaced because every scenes background music was exceptionally placed.
Another aspect of behind the scenes of the movie that was amazingly done was the editing.  This movie flows flawlessly from scene to scene and it makes sense.  Your never asking yourself what the heck why?
Overall I would give this movie a B.  I would suggest this movie over the Spider-Man movies that had Tobey Maguire portraying Peter Parker.  The Amazing Spider-Man is incomparable to Spider-Man because it is on a whole other level.  Can't wait for the sequel to come out on DVD so that I can give you my review of it!
